Once, my 12-year-old son asked what the first, second, and third worlds are. I said:

You are
standing by a swimming pool on the roof of a hotel, with an ice-cold Coca-Cola
in your hand. This is the first world.

Do you see that person walking down the street to an Internet cafe? This is the second world.

Do you see that person riding a donkey cart down the street? This is the third world.

This explanation is likely adequate for a 12-year-old; however, it would be inadequate for a professional. These phrases have comprehensive definitions that educate and inform. Also, did you know, there is a fourth world?

Find definitions of these and thousands of other phrases and terms in the KT Project’s Glossary of Common Industry and Project Terminology.
